NOMAS
(Nautic Offshore Management Access System)
Offshore Operations & Safety Software for Offshore Wind

VTMS and Permit-to-Work systems designed by offshore wind professionals for offshore wind farm construction and operations.

What is NOMAS?

NOMAS is the digital systems division of Nautic Energy, developing advanced offshore operations and safety platforms for offshore wind and marine construction projects.

Founded by offshore wind professionals Chris Perkins and Toby Strickett, NOMAS combines over 30 years of operational experience in marine coordination and offshore construction to deliver systems designed by industry users for real project environments.

NOMAS systems

NOMAS develops two independent but complementary offshore digital systems:

VTMS – Vessel Traffic Management System

PtW – Offshore Permit to Work System

Both systems can be deployed individually or side-by-side on projects while remaining technically separate and fully configurable.

VTMS – Vessel Traffic Management System for Offshore Wind

The NOMAS VTMS (Vessel Traffic Management System) is a maritime traffic management software platform developed from extensive offshore wind marine coordination experience.

After more than a decade working in Marine Coordination, NOMAS co-founder Toby Strickett observed that many existing Vessel Traffic Management Systems were designed primarily from an IT perspective rather than by end users. This often resulted in complex navigation, inefficient workflows and systems that did not reflect real offshore operations.

NOMAS VTMS was therefore designed with a clear objective:

a logical, simple and efficient marine coordination system built by Marine Coordinators for Marine Coordinators.

Designed specifically for offshore wind farm construction and operations, NOMAS provides a configurable offshore wind vessel management and marine coordination environment aligned to real site workflows.

Key VTMS capabilities

AIS vessel tracking and real-time monitoring

Offshore personnel and crew transfer tracking

Marine certificate and compliance management

Vessel manifest and access tracking

Offshore asset location mapping and status updates

Marine operations dashboard and reporting

Operational data retention and export

Reporting and Data Retention

NOMAS systems retain operational data throughout the project lifecycle, allowing users to generate reports and access historical information directly without reliance on back-office support.

The integrated reporting capability enables projects to extract marine operations, personnel, vessel and safety data on demand – supporting compliance, analysis and project documentation requirements.

Your data remains accessible, searchable and usable – in project time, not admin time.

PtW – Offshore Permit to Work System

The NOMAS PtW (Permit to Work) system is a digital permit-to-work software platform developed from extensive offshore construction experience across multiple offshore wind projects.

Many traditional permit systems are rigid, difficult to adapt and separated across multiple tools for permit control, electrical safety and work planning. NOMAS PtW was therefore designed as a fully configurable offshore permit to work management system aligned to real site safety workflows.

Integrated safety modules

Unlike many offshore safety platforms, NOMAS PtW integrates modules typically delivered as separate systems:

  • Permit to Work

  • Electrical Safety Rules (ESR) management

  • Work Request / SIMOPS coordination

This unified approach allows offshore wind projects to manage work authorisation, isolation and safety compliance within a single offshore permit to work system.

Individually developed for every client

A core differentiator of NOMAS systems is their deployment model.

Most VTMS and permit-to-work providers operate shared core platforms across multiple projects. Structural changes to menus, workflows or functionality can therefore affect all clients using that system, limiting flexibility and slowing adaptation, this in turn can lead to systems not being updated or changed as the client requests.

NOMAS is fundamentally different.

Each NOMAS deployment is an independent system configured with the client and built for their specific project requirements, allowing:

Project-specific workflows and terminology

Custom menus, layouts and data structures

Rapid changes without affecting other projects

Alignment with site procedures and operations

Unique environment per project

Why NOMAS?

Designed by offshore wind professionals with real operational experience

Built for offshore wind construction and operations (O&M-ready)

User-led workflows with minimal training requirements

Independent client deployments – not shared multi-project cores

Configurable without impact to other projects

Integrated vessel, personnel and safety management

Reporting and data retention without back-office dependence
